Job summary

CV Technical is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for an established industrial operation in the Greater Manchester area. This hands-on role involves carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production equipment, and you will work as part of a small engineering team to keep production moving efficiently.

The ideal candidate has an engineering/maintenance background with experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, plus awareness of health and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Engineering/maintenance background.
  • Experience with industrial machinery or production equipment.
  • Good mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety procedures and working practices.
  • Hands-on, problem-solving approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work as part of a small engineering team.
  • Steam boiler experience would be advantageous.
  • Forklift licence would be advantageous, with training available where required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out hands-on maintenance and repairs across industrial production machinery.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Ensure plant, equipment and building-related issues are dealt with efficiently.
  • Support the maintenance and reliability of industrial machinery and production equipment.
  • Work safely and follow established engineering procedures.
  • Ensure mechanical, electrical and steam systems operate in line with relevant legislation and requirements.
  • Provide technical input into repairs, upgrades, new installations and equipment replacement.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new process equipment.
  • Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
  • Support the wider production operation with engineering requirements and ad-hoc maintenance tasks.
  • Work closely with the existing engineering team to minimise downtime and keep production moving.

Maintenance Engineer - Industrial Environment

  • Salary: Up to £33,900 + overtime
  • Location: Greater Manchester / commutable surrounding areas
  • Holiday: 22 days + bank holidays
  • Pension: 4%
  • Overtime: 1.5x, with enhanced rates of 2x on Sundays and Saturday overtime after 4 hours
The Opportunity

An established industrial business is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team and play a key role in keeping its production operation running efficiently.

This is a hands‑on engineering position and would suit someone who enjoys getting stuck in, solving problems and working in a busy industrial environment.

You’ll be working as part of a small engineering team, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of industrial machinery, equipment and site services.

About You

We're particularly interested in your engineering background and attitude.

You don't necessarily need to tick every box. The key requirement is someone who is practical, reliable and prepared to get stuck in.

You'll ideally have:
  • An engineering/maintenance background.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery or production equipment.
  • Good mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.
  • An awareness of Health & Safety procedures and working practices.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to work as part of a small engineering team.
  • Steam boiler experience would be advantageous.
  • Forklift licence would be advantageous, with training available where required.
