Job summary

VetPlus Limited in Lytham, Lancashire is seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will maintain production equipment, reduce downtime, and support engineering projects while ensuring safety and quality on site.

Working with the Head of Manufacturing & Engineering and cross‑functional teams, you’ll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and implement reliability improvements to keep our site running smoothly and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Extensive maintenance engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and basic PLC fault diagnosis.
• Ability to plan and complete preventative maintenance.
• Able to read technical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving with hands-on approach.
• Collaborates across production, engineering, quality, and support teams.
• Engineering qualification or apprenticeship or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on production machinery.
• Diagnosing faults and resolving breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Monitoring equipment performance and identifying reliability improvements.
• Maintaining maintenance records and documentation.
• Supporting machinery upgrades and new equipment installations.
• Coordinating with suppliers and contractors for repairs and servicing.
• Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.

• Promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the site.

Location: Lytham, Lancashire
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Lytham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys problem-solving, continuous improvement, and ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Working closely with the Head of Manufacturing & Engineering and production teams, you will play a key role in maintaining machinery, reducing downtime, and supporting ongoing engineering and improvement projects across the site.

What You\'ll Be Doing

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on production machinery.
• Diagnosing faults and resolving breakdowns efficiently to minimise operational downtime.
• Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Supporting machinery upgrades, new equipment installations, and continuous improvement projects.
• Working with suppliers and contractors to coordinate repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
• Supporting improvements in machine performance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
• Promoting a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the site.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Possesses strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Has knowledge of electrical systems and basic PLC fault diagnosis.
• Can plan and complete preventative maintenance activities effectively.
• Is confident interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and engineering documentation.
• Has excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
• Works well with colleagues across production, engineering, quality, and support functions.
• Holds a relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience within food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
