Job summary

Castle Employment Group is helping a leading UK food manufacturer in the Northallerton area recruit a hands-on Maintenance Engineer. You will maintain a world-class production facility, carry out preventative maintenance, and work closely with production teams to keep machinery running at peak efficiency.

You’ll bring experience in maintenance engineering (food/FMCG preferred) with strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, and the ability to adapt to shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance engineering role, preferably in food or FMCG.
• Strong fault-finding skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work with production teams to maintain peak performance.
• Support continuous improvement and factory development projects.
• Assist with equipment installation and commissioning.

We’re hiring a proactive and reliable engineer to join a dynamic and growing team at a leading UK food manufacturer. This is your opportunity to play a key role in keeping a world-class production facility running at its best.

What you’ll be doing:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a range of food production machinery
• Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns to reduce downtime
• Working closely with production teams to maintain peak operational performance
• Supporting continuous improvement and factory development projects
• Assisting with equipment installation and commissioning
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with food safety and hygiene standards

What we’re looking for:

• Experience in a maintenance engineering role – food or FMCG background ideal
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills (including pneumatics and hydraulics)
• A proactive, can-do attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to work shifts and support production as needed
• Engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or similar) desirable, but practical experience equally valued
