Job summary

B&M Retail Limited in Bedford's Distribution Centre is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support the Maintenance Manager with site upkeep, testing of water and electrical systems, and installation of new equipment.

The role is full-time and on-site, with a Mon-Fri pattern (39 hours/week). You will perform planned maintenance, record-keeping in the facilities system, and collaborate with third-party contractors to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification level 2+ in plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
• Strong Health and Safety knowledge and compliance.
• Ability to use power and hand tools on site.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to maintenance breakdowns in the warehouse.
• Perform routine maintenance and planned tasks.
• Maintain records in the facilities management system.
• Liaise with third-party contractors.
• Support quotes, project work, and general PM tasks.

Job description

Are you an experienced building maintenance professional? Or are you recently qualified and looking for your first role post education in building maintenance?

We are currently searching for a Maintenance Engineer to join B&M in our Distribution Centre in Bedford.

The Shift Pattern available is: Monday - Friday, 39 hours per week

This is a hands on role, where you will be supporting our Maintenance Manager with the general maintenance and upkeep of our Distribution Centre, and the equipment/facilities within. This will involve everything from the testing of our water and electrical systems, general building upkeep (decoration), installation of new equipment and much more.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. You will be based on-site, 5 days per week.

What you’ll be doing

• Responding swiftly to any breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues
• Carrying out routine/planned maintenance tasks
• Maintaining accurate records on our facilities management system.
• Collaborating and working alongside third party contractors
• Assisting with quotes, project work and general PPM as required.

What you’ll bring:

• A trade qualification at level 2 or higher (plumbing, electrical or carpentry)
• A strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations
• A can do attitude, no job is too small or too large
• Ability to use both power and hand tools as required
• Hands on experience in a warehousing environment is desired, but not essential.
