Job summary

B&M Retail Limited in Bedford is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Distribution Centre. This is a hands-on role supporting the Maintenance Manager with general maintenance and upkeep of the site and equipment, including testing water/electrical systems and installing new equipment.

The role is full-time and on-site, 5 days per week, with a Monday–Friday, 39-hour pattern. You will respond quickly to breakdowns, carry out planned maintenance, maintain records in our

• Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations.

• Warehousing experience is desirable but not essential.

Job description

Are you an experienced building maintenance professional? Or are you recently qualified and looking for your first role post education in building maintenance?

We are currently searching for a Maintenance Engineer to join B&M in our Distribution Centre in Bedford.

The Shift Pattern available is: Monday – Friday, 39 hours per week

This is a hands on role, where you will be supporting our Maintenance Manager with the general maintenance and upkeep of our Distribution Centre, and the equipment/facilities within. This will involve everything from the testing of our water and electrical systems, general building upkeep (decoration), installation of new equipment and much more.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. You will be based on-site, 5 days per week.

What you’ll be doing

• Responding swiftly to any breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues
• Carrying out routine/planned maintenance tasks
• Maintaining accurate records on our facilities management system.
• Collaborating and working alongside third party contractors
• Assisting with quotes, project work and general PPM as required.

What you’ll bring:

• A trade qualification at level 2 or higher (plumbing, electrical or carpentry)
• A strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations
• A "can do" attitude, no job is too small or too large
• Ability to use both power and hand tools as required
• Hands on experience in a warehousing environment is desired, but not essential.
