Job summary

B&M is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer for our Distribution Centre in Bedford. This full-time, permanent role supports the Maintenance Manager in the upkeep of the centre and equipment, with a Monday–Friday pattern of 39 hours.

You’ll handle testing of water/electrical systems, general upkeep, and installation of new equipment on-site. You will respond to breakdowns, perform routine maintenance, keep records, work with contractors, and assist with quotes and PPMs as required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification at level 2 or higher in plumbing, electrical or carpentry.
• Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
• Ability to use power and hand tools as required.
• Hands-on warehousing maintenance experience desired but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Respond swiftly to breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues.
• Carry out routine/planned maintenance tasks in the distribution centre.
• Maintain accurate records on the facilities management system.
• Collaborate with third party contractors as needed.

Are you an experienced building maintenance professional? Or are you recently qualified and looking for your first role post education in building maintenance?

We are currently searching for a Maintenance Engineer to join B&M in our Distribution Centre in Bedford.

The Shift Pattern available is: Monday - Friday, 39 hours per week

This is a hands on role, where you will be supporting our Maintenance Manager with the general maintenance and upkeep of our Distribution Centre, and the equipment/facilities within. This will involve everything from the testing of our water and electrical systems, general building upkeep (decoration), installation of new equipment and much more.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. You will be based on-site, 5 days per week.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Responding swiftly to any breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues
• Carrying out routine/planned maintenance tasks
• Maintaining accurate records on our facilities management system.
• Collaborating and working alongside third party contractors
• Assisting with quotes, project work and general PPM as required.

What You’ll Bring

• A trade qualification at level 2 or higher (plumbing, electrical or carpentry)
• A strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations
• A “can do” attitude, no job is too small or too large
• Ability to use both power and hand tools as required
• Hands on experience in a warehousing environment is desired, but not essential.
