Job summary

Omega Plc is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer in Bolton to support high-volume production with a three-shift pattern. You will diagnose, repair and maintain PLC-controlled machinery, plan preventative actions and contribute to equipment upgrades to maximise uptime.

The role requires strong hands-on electrical and mechanical skills, experience in manufacturing environments, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, supported by City & Guilds Part 3 (or similar) and NVQ Level 2 & 3.
  • Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Significant hands-on experience (minimum 2+ years) in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record in equipment repair, maintenance, and process improvement.
  • Experience in fitting, fabrication, and machining is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high-volume PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Planning and performing preventative maintenance on critical assets.
  • Improvement and modification of assembly/test equipment and transfer systems.
  • Service and maintenance of electrical and mechanical site services/plant.
  • Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Our Bolton facility is a key high-volume production site focused on precision assembly and testing systems, and we are now seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive, skilled tradesperson who thrives in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment. You will play a critical role in maximising equipment uptime, driving continuous improvement, and supporting our commitment to world-class production standards.

Responsibilities
