Job summary
Omega Plc is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer in Bolton to support high-volume production with a three-shift pattern. You will diagnose, repair and maintain PLC-controlled machinery, plan preventative actions and contribute to equipment upgrades to maximise uptime.
The role requires strong hands-on electrical and mechanical skills, experience in manufacturing environments, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, supported by City & Guilds Part 3 (or similar) and NVQ Level 2 & 3.
- Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Significant hands-on experience (minimum 2+ years) in high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record in equipment repair, maintenance, and process improvement.
- Experience in fitting, fabrication, and machining is highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high-volume PLC-controlled production equipment.
- Planning and performing preventative maintenance on critical assets.
- Improvement and modification of assembly/test equipment and transfer systems.
- Service and maintenance of electrical and mechanical site services/plant.
- Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
