Job summary

ATA Recruitment is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a large-scale automated distribution site in Stoke-on-Trent. The role covers reactive maintenance across conveyors, cranes and warehouse automation, with a strong emphasis on safe electrical and mechanical fault finding.

You will benefit from a 12‑hour shift pattern (days and nights), paid overtime, and a clear path into control or team-leader roles as you gain PLC/SCADA experience and contribute to continuous improvements across

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification Level 3 or above (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, etc.).
• Experience in manufacturing, automation, logistics or production environments.
• Ability to work safely both mechanically and electrically.

Responsibilities

• Reactive maintenance across automated distribution equipment.
• Fault finding on conveyors, cranes, drives, rollers and automated handling systems.
• Working safely within panels using multi-meters and electrical drawings.
• Supporting PPMs and engineering projects when required.
• Responding to plant breakdowns quickly within a fast-paced operation.

Maintenance Engineer

Stoke-on-Trent

£56,340

Unique 12-Hour Shift Pattern (Days & Nights)

Overtime (1.5x) + 4% Pension

A large-scale automated distribution operation is looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join its established engineering team.

This is a highly reactive maintenance role working across a busy automated facility containing conveyors, cranes, sortation systems and warehouse automation equipment.

The Role

• Reactive breakdown maintenance across automated distribution equipment
• Fault finding on conveyors, cranes, drives, rollers and automated handling systems
• Working safely within panels using multi-meters and electrical drawings
• Supporting PPMs and engineering projects when required
• Responding to plant breakdowns quickly within a fast-paced operation

What We're Looking For

• A recognised engineering qualification equivalent to a Level 3 or above (NVQ, City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc.)
• Previous experience within manufacturing, automation, logistics or production environments
• Ability to work safely both mechanically and electrically
• A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving ability
