Job summary

Randstad UK is recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Assistant for a leading national Facilities Management provider in Liverpool. The role offers a competitive salary and a clear path from temporary to permanent, full-time (40 hours/week), with a generous pension and 33 days holiday.

Key duties include maintenance across the site, routine compliance testing (fire alarms, emergency lighting), and support for water hygiene as per safety logs.

Qualifications

• Basic awareness of building fabric, minor carpentry, plumbing, and general repairs.
• Awareness of routine testing procedures (e.g., fire alarm activations, basic emergency lighting).
• Familiarity with basic electrical/mechanical plant and tools.
• Methodical approach with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively under pressure.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, reactive, and cyclical maintenance tasks, fabric repairs, and semi-skilled handyperson work across the site to agreed service standards.
• Perform routine compliance testing, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, and maintaining accurate records in site logbooks.
• Support the building water hygiene maintenance regime in accordance with the site water safety logbook and regulatory standards.
• Carry out all duties respectfully and safely, upholding patient dignity, privacy, and infection control standards across the facility.
• Maintain safe working practices in line with Health and Safety, COSHH, and waste disposal regulations, while ensuring all tools and plant are routinely inspected.
• Participate in an on-call rota to ensure out-of-hours coverage, and assist with seasonal duties such as gritting and snow clearing during severe weather.
