Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Derby is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform day-to-day maintenance tasks to keep the hospital safe and functional for residents. You will work Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, on site at Cygnet Hospital Derby, with a focus on safe, reliable building and equipment maintenance.

The role requires experience in general maintenance, decorating and basic carpentry, and the ability to communicate at all levels.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience or proven ability in basic building works.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work safely in a hospital environment.
• Enhanced DBS check required and successful candidates will be DBS checked.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed
• Carry out decorating, basic joinery, painting and general building work
• Maintain equipment, services and vehicles
• Comply with safe working practices and report faults and hazards
• Check fire safety points and assist with general maintenance tasks as required

• Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep plant, services and vehicles in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed
• Carry out a range of tasks including decorating, basic joinery, painting & general building work
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
  Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/construction industry
• Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
• Car Driver (advantageous)
  £13.15 per hour increasing to £13.45 per hour at 3 months and £13.70 per hour at 18 months
