Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a dedicated Macular Service Coordinator to support the delivery of the UHD Macular Service. You will work within the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care and appropriate pathway management.

In this role you will liaise with consultants and the macula team, ensure clinics run smoothly, and adhere to NICE guidelines. You may relocate across UHD locations to meet service demands and support a transforming Trust.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating a specialised ophthalmology service or similar.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and consultants.
  • Strong communication with patients, staff and external partners.
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines and patient pathways preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Macular Service across the MDT to ensure timely, high-quality care.
  • Support the consultant and macula team to run clinics smoothly.
  • Adhere to NICE guidelines in patient pathways and treatment delivery.
  • Liaise with patients, staff and referrals to grade and book appointments.
  • Track follow-ups and ensure timelines are clinically led.
  • Manage complex queries and scheduling with clinicians using effective communication.
  • Analyse clinic capacity and rearrange cancelled slots to prevent breaches.
