Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Technician – Machinist in Bermondsey, London, to join a forward‑looking engineering and technology business developing next‑generation synthetic fuel technology.

The role blends practical machining with R&D, producing prototypes through to full assemblies and contributing ideas to manufacturing processes. You will operate manual and CNC mills/lathe, program CNC machines (Hurco WinMax preferred), set up CAM programs, verify toolpaths, and conduct

Qualifications

• 4–5 years’ experience in machining, engineering, manufacturing or similar environment.
• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Experience operating both manual and CNC milling and turning machinery.
• Experience with CAM software and CNC toolpath verification.
• Good understanding of workholding, tooling, feeds, speeds and machining techniques.
• Strong inspection and measurement skills.
• Flexible approach and willingness to engage in wider engineering activities.
• Confidence to identify problems and develop practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a range of machining equipment to produce high‑quality components.
• Set up and program CNC machinery; derive toolpaths and verify with dry runs.
• Inspect components using micrometers, gauges and indicators; ensure quality standards.
• Support prototype development, test rigs and full‑scale assemblies.
• Collaborate with engineers and external contractors on manufacturing solutions.
