Job summary

Deritend, part of the Rubix Group, seeks a skilled machinist to perform conventional and CNC machining to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies in a UK workshop. The role requires hands-on experience with turning, milling and grinding, with focus on quality and efficiency.

You will operate various machines, adhere to H&S policies, and contribute to safe, reliable production for a blue-chip client base. Permanent, full-time position in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school qualifications or equivalent.
• Engineering apprenticeship or technical training.
• On-the-job training in engineering environments.

We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining induction, condition monitoring and fabrication services.

Key Responsibilities

Main Tasks and Deliverables:

• Perform conventional machining operations such as turning, milling and drilling using various lathes, CNC machines and conventional machines to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
• Ensure workflow procedures are followed.
• Record all data necessary to produce and expected service and/or design results including sizes and illustrations.
• Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
• Perform metal spraying techniques as needed.
• Understand materials and applications as required.
• Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
• Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
• Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
• Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to band saw, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
• Ensure that all company H&S policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
• Promote a culture of working safely as routine.
