Job summary

Rubix Group's Deritend division in Birmingham is seeking a Workshop Engineer to join a team that services and repairs mechanical assemblies using turning, milling and various welding and finishing processes.

You will perform machining operations, balance components, follow H&S policies, and maintain accurate records while contributing to a culture of safe working practices.

Qualifications

  • High school qualifications required.
  • Engineering apprenticeship or similar is preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Perform conventional machining operations such as turning, milling and drilling using various lathes, CNC machines and conventional machines to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
  • Ensure workflow procedures are followed.
  • Record all data necessary to produce and expected service and/or design results including sizes and illustrations.
  • Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
  • Perform metal spraying techniques as needed.
  • Understand materials and applications as required.
  • Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to band saw, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
  • Ensure that all company H&S policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • Promote a culture of working safely as routine.

We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining induction, condition monitoring and fabrication services.


Key Responsibilities

Main Tasks and Deliverables:

  • Perform conventional machining operations such as turning, milling and drilling using various lathes, CNC machines and conventional machines to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
