Job summary

Rubix UKII in Southampton is seeking a skilled machinist to join our engineering team. You will measure components, operate a range of machine tools, and manufacture parts from various materials in line with drawings and specifications.

The role requires teamwork, precise equipment operation, and accurate record-keeping. You will support site activities, participate in on-call shifts, and contribute to continuous improvement within a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Able to measure mechanical components accurately.
• Able to use material cutting equipment safely and accurately.
• Able to maintain equipment ensuring availability and accuracy.
• Ability to work within a team and problem solve.
• IT literate, e.g. use of tablets and associated software.
• Ability to communicate both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Work to Rubix UKII HSEQ policies and procedures.
• Completion of component measurement, manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings.
• Operation of various machine tools to enable the manufacture of components from a variety of materials, both metallic and none metallic.
• Maintain machine tools to ensure machining capacity and accuracy.
• Provide all necessary inspection, job record and timekeeping reports throughout the job process, in line with Rubix UKII policies and procedures.
• Support other job functions as requested by supervision, including site work and operating in other engineering workshops.
• Active participation in on call rota, shift working and overtime requests to ensure service levels are maintained.
