Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Project Engineer to join the UU Water Framework team in the North West. The role covers mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation works across water infrastructure projects, coordinating design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover with cross‑functional teams.

You will deliver safe, right‑first‑time solutions by reviewing drawings, specifications and RAMS, supporting package management, and ensuring

Qualifications

• Experience delivering mechanical and/or electrical works on capital projects, ideally within the UK water/utilities sector.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (pumps, valves, pipework, MCCs, LV distribution, drives, instrumentation, control systems).
• Ability to read, review and coordinate technical drawings, specifications, P&IDs and equipment schedules.
• HNC/HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering, with a CSCS card.
• Proactive, organised and safety-conscious with collaborative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical and electrical work packages (pumps, valves, pipework, MCCs, LV distribution, drives, instrumentation, control systems).
• Review design information, specifications, drawings and submissions for compliance with project requirements.
• Support procurement and package management with designers, construction teams and subcontractors to resolve technical queries.
• Produce and coordinate RAMS, permits, inspection/test plans, commissioning packs and handover records.
• Monitor installation progress, quality, safety, programme interfaces, and assist with testing, commissioning and demonstrations.
