Job summary

METLEN Energy & Metals in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced M&E Project Manager to join the EGL1 Project team, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will lead delivery of major Building Services, HV equipment installation contracts, coordinating across Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or related discipline, 10+ years in project/construction/contract management, and strong NEC contracts knowledge.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 10+ years in project/construction/contract management.
• Proven experience with major M&E/industrial/HV installation projects.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and risk management.
• Excellent English and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single point of accountability for assigned M&E and HV equipment installation contracts, from contract award through handover and close-out.
• Lead the safe and successful delivery of Building Services, Auxiliary Systems, transformer installation, MV systems, and HV primary and valve installation packages.
• Manage contractor performance against contractual requirements, programme milestones, quality targets and HSE requirements.
• Chair contract review meetings, track actions to close-out, and address non-performance, constraints and commercial exposure.
• Coordinate delivery across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial and Project Controls functions.
• Align contractor programmes with integrated project schedules and support Level 4/5 programme development.
• Monitor package progress, installation readiness and commissioning milestones, providing updates to Project Management.
• Coordinate design deliverables, technical submissions and interfaces between design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Support resolution of technical queries, design issues and construction constraints including buildability and commissioning reviews.
• Manage package budgets, forecast performance, change events, variations and contractual risks with Commercial/Project Controls.
• Coordinate contractor activities across locations, ensuring resourcing, safe execution, quality records and complete handover documentation.
• Identify package-level risks and opportunities, implement mitigation plans, escalate significant issues.
• Build relationships with client, consortium partners, contractors and internal stakeholders in meetings.
