Job summary

Northern Education Trust is seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Supervisor for Dyke House Academy in Hartlepool. The role focuses on supervising pupils at lunchtime, maintaining safety, and supporting positive behaviour under the Principal's direction.

The successful candidate will work part-time, 12:00–13:30, 38 weeks plus 2 paid days, with enhanced background checks and safeguarding requirements in place.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils during lunchtime to ensure a safe, positive, and structured area.
• Assist pupils at the serving counter and keep dining and packed-lunch areas clean.
• Monitor pupil welfare and behaviour in line with academy policy; report concerns as needed.
• Undergo enhanced DBS background checks and safeguarding procedures prior to appointment.

Job description

Northern Education Trust is seeking a dedicated and caring Lunchtime Supervisor to join our team at Dyke House Academy. In this role, you will work under the direct instruction of the Principal to supervise pupils during the lunchtime period, ensuring a safe, positive, and structured environment.

• Supervision & Support: Escort pupils to and from the dining area, assist them at the serving counter, and ensure tables and packed-lunch areas are kept clean.
• Behaviour & Welfare: Maintain suitable behaviour standards in line with academy policy, help children develop social skills, and monitor pupil well‑being.
• Health & Safety: Attend to minor accidents or illness, follow health and safety requirements, and adhere to GDPR and data protection guidelines.
• Safeguarding: Actively follow the trust's safeguarding and child protection policies, recognizing and reporting any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead/Principal.
  Ability to work effectively under the direction of teaching staff and liaise professionally with colleagues.

• As this role involves working closely with children, the successful candidate must undergo appropriate background checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
  Salary amounts quoted are from the 1 September to 31 August and therefore if you commence employment part way through the academic year they are subject to an equated salary adjustment

Working Type: Part time, 7.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12pm - 1.30pm, 38 weeks plus 2 days (paid weeks 45.235) Base: Dyke House Academy, Mapleton Road, Hartlepool, TS24 8NQ
