Job summary

Calthorpe Academy is seeking Lunchtime Supervisors to support pupils during the lunchtime period at a specialist SEND school in Birmingham. The role involves assisting with feeding, supervision, and ensuring pupil safety during the lunch period.

The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, patient, and confident in supporting pupils with diverse needs and abilities. Previous experience with children is desirable and a compassionate approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is desirable.
• A caring, patient and compassionate approach.
• The ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
• Confidence working with children with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Feeding or supervising the feeding of pupils aged 3-19.
• Supporting pupils during lunchtime in the dining hall or within their classroom.
• Helping pupils move safely from their classroom to the dining hall and then outside to play.
• Supervising pupils in the playground and wider outdoor areas.
• Directing play and encouraging pupils to participate and interact.
• Engaging pupils in conversation and activities.
• Ensuring pupils remain safe during lunchtime.
• Managing behaviour where required.
• Providing physical support where necessary to keep pupils safe.
