Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Lower Secondary Tutor to support learners in the DT7 area through personalised 1:1 tuition. You will work on behalf of Local Authorities to provide tailored support for students who are below expected levels or whose schooling has been disrupted, helping them regain confidence and re-engage with learning.

The role focuses on KS3 with flexible hours and pay rates of 25–30 per hour.

Qualifications

• 6 months' experience in an educational setting (tutoring/teaching/TA/mentoring)
• Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
• Strong knowledge of the KS3 curriculum
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions
• Desirable: SEND, EHCPs or additional needs experience
• Driver preferred; travel locally within the DT7 area

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised 1:1 tuition for KS3 learners
• Help students build confidence and engagement with learning
• Adapt lessons to meet individual needs and pace
• Coordinate with Local Authorities as required
• Monitor progress and communicate with learners and guardians as needed

Lower Secondary Tutor

Support Learners During Key Stages 3 & Early Secondary Education

We're looking for Lower Secondary Tutors to support children and young people in the DT7 area through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored support to learners who require alternative educational provision. Many students are working below expected levels, have experienced disruptions to their education, or need additional support to build confidence and re-engage with learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for tutors who enjoy helping students develop strong foundations before progressing into their GCSE years.

Location: DT7 Area

Key Stage: Lower Secondary (KS3)

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: 25- 30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
• Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
• Strong knowledge of the KS3 curriculum
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within the DT7 area
