Job summary

Prospero Teaching are seeking a Lower Secondary Tutor to support KS3 learners in the DT7 area through personalised 1:1 tuition on behalf of Local Authorities.

The role focuses on helping students who may have gaps in learning, disruptions, or SEND needs, with flexible hours and opportunities for long-term placements.

Applicants should have at least 6 months educational experience, KS3 curriculum knowledge, DBS Update Service preferred, and a willingness to travel locally.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting (tutoring, teaching, or related roles).
• Experience supporting secondary-aged learners.
• Strong knowledge of the KS3 curriculum.
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND / EHCPs is desirable.

Responsibilities

Lower Secondary Tutor

Support Learners During Key Stages 3 & Early Secondary Education

We're looking for Lower Secondary Tutors to support children and young people in the DT7 area through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored support to learners who require alternative educational provision. Many students are working below expected levels, have experienced disruptions to their education, or need additional support to build confidence and re-engage with learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for tutors who enjoy helping students develop strong foundations before progressing into their GCSE years.

Location: DT7 Area

Key Stage: Lower Secondary (KS3)

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
• Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
• Strong knowledge of the KS3 curriculum
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within the DT7 area
