Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Secondary Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 support for students across Poole, working with Local Authorities to re-engage learners in education. The role focuses on building confidence, encouraging engagement, and guiding students toward positive academic progress, with flexible hours and the chance to impact vulnerable learners.

Location is Poole with potential travel locally; experience in secondary settings and DBS checks are valued, and QTS/PGCE is desirable

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting.
• QTS or PGCE highly desirable.
• Experience supporting secondary-aged learners.
• Strong subject knowledge in one or more curriculum areas.
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised lessons.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, adaptable and positive approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Driver preferred; travel locally around Poole.

Support Young People to Re-Engage with Education

We're looking for a Secondary Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 support to children and young people across Poole.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision and benefit from a tailored approach to learning. Many students have experienced barriers to education and need a tutor who can build confidence, encourage engagement, and help them make positive academic progress.

Whether your experience is in core subjects, humanities, sciences, languages, or vocational subjects, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference through one-to-one support.

Location: Poole

Key Stage: Secondary (KS3 & KS4)

Start Date: September

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: 25- 30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
