Job summary

Westren Capital is a London-based trading firm seeking penultimate or final-year students or graduates to join the FPGA team. You will design and optimise ultra-low-latency FPGA pipelines, using SystemVerilog and high-performance languages to ship real market-facing code.

We value curiosity, practical software and hardware work, and the ability to work across hardware and software in production environments. London-based, with exposure to cutting-edge trading technology.

Qualifications

• Penultimate or final-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, on track for a 2:1 or above from a leading institution.
• Demonstrated interest in technology through real work or side projects.
• Exposure to HDL such as SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.
• Programming ability in C++ and/or Python that goes beyond syntax.

Responsibilities

• Work on live FPGA pipelines and low-latency systems used in trading.
• Design and optimise FPGA pipelines where latency is measured and reduced.
• Use SystemVerilog, C++, and Python to build and validate high-performance systems.
• Collaborate with quants and software engineers to integrate hardware with trading software.
• Debug, profile, and refine systems to meet timing and resource constraints.
• Work with state-of-the-art FPGA hardware and toolchains.
• Contribute to ongoing R&D toward pushing physical limits of execution.
