Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior Civil & Structural Engineering leader within the Energy team. You will shape technical direction, governance and performance on major energy projects, working with discipline leads, clients and delivery partners.

You will drive safety-focused design, enable complex reviews, and contribute to bids and proposals while mentoring engineers and building strong cross-disciplinary relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status with ICE/IStructE or equivalent.
• Significant post-chartership experience on complex civil/structural energy projects.
• Experience as Lead Engineer, Discipline Lead or Technical Authority on multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong governance, design assurance, Safety in Design knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for civil and structural engineering in the Energy team.
• Act as technical authority and independent reviewer on complex or high-risk commissions.
• Lead technical reviews across steelwork, reinforced concrete, foundations, geotechnical interfaces, earthworks and associated disciplines.
• Ensure designs, calculations, drawings and reports are properly scoped, checked and approved.
• Own and develop discipline procedures, guides, tools, and competence requirements.
• Promote Safety in Design and CDM compliance throughout projects.
• Drive standardisation, digital engineering, and innovation to improve quality and efficiency.
• Lead client-facing technical leadership on major programmes and bids.
