Job summary

Engage Education in Mitcham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role starting September 2026. You will support pupils with SEN, assist teachers with differentiated activities and help maintain an inclusive classroom environment to promote pupil wellbeing and progress.

The ideal candidate will have experience in SEN settings, patience, and strong communication. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or educational setting.
• Patience and adaptability to support pupils with varied needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually and in small groups to access the curriculum.
• Assist teachers with differentiated activities and targeted interventions.
• Help create an inclusive classroom environment where every pupil can thrive.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Monitor pupils’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN team.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and communication skills.
