Job summary

Engage Education in Mitcham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role starting September 2026. You will support pupils with SEN, assist teachers with differentiated activities and help maintain an inclusive classroom environment to promote pupil wellbeing and progress.

The ideal candidate will have experience in SEN settings, patience, and strong communication. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Mitcham

Pay: £90-£100 per day, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start date: September 2026

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Mitcham for the 2026/27 academic year.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the learning, development and wellbeing of pupils with additional needs.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting pupils individually and in small groups to access the curriculum
  • Assisting teachers with differentiated activities and targeted interventions
  • Helping to create an inclusive classroom environment in which every pupil can thrive
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Monitoring pupils’ progress and providing feedback to teachers and the school’s SEN team
  • Encouraging pupils to develop their confidence, independence and communication skills
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or educational setting
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Patience, adaptability and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents
  • Availability to begin a long-term position in September 2026
