Job summary

Forterra Building Products Ltd is seeking a Logistics Planner to join our Whittlesey team. You will plan customer deliveries, optimise fleet utilisation, and support service levels to drive cost efficiency across the transport operation.

You will work with drivers, co-ordinators, sales teams, customers and hauliers to ensure timely deliveries, quick issue resolution and meeting customer expectations. The role requires proactive planning and strong attention to detail to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Plan customer deliveries using the scheduling system to agreed planning lead times.
• Optimise driver loads and fleet utilisation across depots.
• Support KPIs including loads per day, cost per load, service levels and delivery performance.
• Identify and arrange third-party haulage when required to cover work.
• React quickly to urgent loads, changes, or uncovered work.
• Resolve planning issues involving drivers, customers, and teams.
• Communicate delivery progress and risks to stakeholders.
• Review reports to identify opportunities for improved planning and cost reduction.
• Minimise empty running and drive continuous transport improvement.
• Ensure activity aligns with procedures, transport requirements and safety.

Responsibilities

• Review reports and system data to identify opportunities for improved planning, efficiency and cost reduction.
• Minimise empty running and support continuous improvement across the transport operation.
• Ensure planning activity is completed in line with company procedures, transport requirements and health and safety expectations.
