Job summary

DS Smith Fordham site is recruiting a Transport Planner to plan customer deliveries, coordinate backhauls and liaise with customers to resolve delays, while ensuring compliance with WTD and safety standards.

The role involves transport office duties, working with sub-contractors and internal teams to optimise routes and fleet utilisation in a fast-paced environment at the Fordham site in the Midlands/ East of England region.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK driving regulations including working time rules (WTD).
• Strong routing and schedule planning skills to optimise deliveries.
• Good understanding of UK geography and regional routes.
• Commitment to safety and compliant operating practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan customer deliveries and backhauls to meet delivery windows and safety standards.
• Carry out transport office activities and documentation.
• Liaise with stakeholders and customers to communicate routes, delays and issues, and work with sub-contractors for replacements.
• Develop backhaul lanes with customers to maintain fleet utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with WTD regulations and reduce tachograph infringements.
• Handle and resolve customer queries and complaints per procedures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost and/or time.
• Cover shifts within the department as needed.
