Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is seeking a Logistics Operative to oversee the safe and timely movement of goods across hospital sites. You will ensure products are checked and signed for, and that daily deliveries align with a set schedule.

You will also load and move cages, verify item quality, and manage waste disposal across locations. A Trust-led training programme will ensure safe handling and disposal practices are followed.

• Load, move and collect cages (full and empty) daily.
• Check item quality and reject substandard items.
• Collect and remove waste from designated waste points across sites.
• Complete the Trust-led training programme for safe handling and disposal.

Job description

The role of the Logistics Operative is to ensure safe and effective movements of goods to support the needs of the Trust. Products will need to be delivered and collected in a timely fashion in accordance with a daily schedule., Products will be delivered to the Trust's hospital sites from a number of suppliers and delivery agents, including NHS Supply Chain.

• Ensuring all products are checked and signed for.
• Loading, moving and collecting cages (both full and empty) on a daily basis.
• Checking the quality of items and rejecting items that are substandard.
• Collection and removal of waste streams from designated waste points across the sites.
• To complete a full Trust-led training programme to ensure all products and waste can be moved, handled, stored and disposed of safely and effectively.
