Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is recruiting for an experienced Medical Secretary to join the Paediatric administration team at Sandwell Hospital. The role is 30 hours per week with a friendly, flexible working environment and the option for some home working days.

You will need AMSPAR or RSA Typing Level 2, and ideally experience with 18-week pathways, waiting lists, and patient information systems. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • AMSPAR or RSA Typing Level 2 required.
  • Experience with NHS pathways and patient management.
  • familiarity with patient information systems and IT
  • Strong organisation and communication; able to prioritise workloads.
  • Experience in a fast-paced NHS environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Actively managing administrative processes for patient pathways in Paediatrics.
  • Co-ordinates and tracks a caseload from referral to discharge.
  • Provide secretarial support to Consultants and clinical teams; liaison with patients and GP's.

We have an exciting Medical Secretary positions available, based at Sandwell Hospital working as part of the Paediatric administration team

This Position is for 30 hours per week

We are a fun, friendly team of secretaries, and looking for someone to join us who is also a team player. This position will be based at Sandwell Hospital. We offer flexible working with the option for some working from home days each week.

The key minimum requirements for this position are the AMSPAR qualification, or a minimum of 2 years previous medical secretary experience.

Candidates should also have experience of managing 18 week pathways and waiting list management, plus knowledge and evidence of patient information systems and other relevant IT systems. Personal organisation, great communication skills and the ability to priorities workloads to juggle the ever changing priorities of the NHS are also essential, as is the experience of working in a fast paced environment.

Main duties of the job

Actively managing the administrative processes associated with patient pathways and contributing to the effectiveness of clinical teams (including patient experience, patient flow and waiting list management) for specialty teams.

Co-ordinating, navigating and tracking a caseload of patients efficiently and effectively through their care pathway i.e. outpatients, day case, diagnostics and inpatients from referral to treatment and discharge for Paediatrics.

Providing secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and clinical teams to support the delivery of high quality co-ordinated and integrated care including liaison with patients, careers GP’s and other service users.
