Job summary

Holt Recruitment Group Limited is working with an established engineering and manufacturing client to recruit an experienced Despatch & Transport Controller for the Operations Team. The role focuses on coordinating UK and international shipments, managing export documentation and ensuring orders are despatched accurately and on time.

You will liaise with transport providers, freight forwarders and customers, maintain CRM/ERP records, and support invoicing and supplier negotiations.

Qualifications

• Experience in despatch/transport/logistics role with export knowledge.
• Proven ability to prepare export documentation for road/sea/air freight.
• Strong organisational skills and accuracy in records.

We are working with our client, an established engineering and manufacturing business, to recruit an experienced Despatch & Transport Controller to join their Operations Team. The role will involve coordinating UK and international shipments, managing export documentation and ensuring customer orders are despatched accurately and on time.

Key Duties

• Coordinate daily despatch schedules and arrange collections with transport providers and freight forwarders.
• Monitor customer orders to ensure timely packing, shipping and delivery.
• Prepare accurate export and shipping documentation for road, sea and air freight.
• Track and obtain proof of export documentation, maintaining accurate records.
• Update internal CRM/ERP systems and work-in-progress reports.
• Process completed orders to support timely customer invoicing.
• Raise and manage purchase orders, negotiating supplier pricing and lead times.
• Obtain transport and supplier quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and freight companies to resolve queries and maintain delivery schedules.
• Investigate and resolve despatch-related administration issues.
• Coordinate project shipments and internal transport movements to testing facilities and subcontractors.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a despatch, transport, shipping or logistics role.
• Proven export experience and knowledge of road, sea and air freight.
• Understanding of export procedures and international shipping documentation.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of administrative accuracy.
• Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers and external transport providers.
• Good telephone manner and professional approach.
