A leading NHS Trust in England is looking for a full-time Locum Consultant Cardiac Surgeon for a 6-month fixed-term role at Wythenshawe Hospital. The candidate will participate in a 1 in 4 on-call rota and will be primarily involved in cardiothoracic surgical care across the Manchester Heart Institute, a major teaching hospital known for its advanced cardiac services. This position requires significant cardiac surgery experience.
Applications are invited for 1 full-time Locum Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, on a 6 months fixed-term basis, to support services in the Manchester Heart Institute across Manchester. The post is based at Wythenshawe Hospital.
There are also references to Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Oxford Road campus being major university teaching hospitals and tertiary centres for cardiothoracic and cardiology services in the Greater Manchester region, including specialised designations. The candidate will be expected to participate in a cardiac surgery on-call rota, which operates on a 1 in 4 basis.
Manchester Trust (MFT) is England’s largest NHS Trust with significant scale and a commitment to integrated health and social care, research, and education. The post holders will be part of a team of 50 Consultant Cardiologists and 16 visiting Consultants within the Manchester Heart Institute.
The Wythenshawe Hospital site is a tertiary centre for cardiothoracic and cardiology services for the Greater Manchester region, providing quaternary level services in heart and lung transplantation and designated as the hub site for the MFT Single Cardiac Service.
A successful candidate with appropriate Cardiac surgery experience will be primarily based at Wythenshawe Hospital. Candidates will be expected to participate in on-call rotas (1 in 4).
