Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Cellular Pathology (10 PAs) for a one-year fixed-term appointment. The role is based in our Hemel Hempstead laboratory with cross-site commitments to Watford and St Albans, delivering histopathology and cytology reporting and MDT input.

The post requires GMC specialist registration (or eligibility within six months), FRCPath or equivalent, and experience in gynae, dermatopathology, GI and breast pathology, with

Qualifications

• Full and specialist GMC registration (or eligible within six months of interview).
• UK trained: must have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award at interview.
• Non-UK trained: evidence of equivalence to UK CCT.
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in Gynaecology, Skin, Cytology.
• Management and Leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality histopathology and diagnostic cytology reporting.
• Participate in subspecialty cancer diagnostics and MDT input.
• Contribute to autopsy and andrology services where appropriate.
• Work closely with consultants, laboratory staff and clinicians across sites to ensure excellent patient care.
