Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Locum Consultant in Cellular Pathology (10 PAs) for a one-year fixed-term appointment. The role covers a broad range of subspecialties with opportunities in cytology, autopsy and MDT work, within a busy laboratory.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality reports, participate in cancer diagnostics, and contribute to service development.

Qualifications

• Specialist registration or within six months of eligibility.
• FRCPath or equivalent is required.
• Collaborative and flexible approach to multidisciplinary work.
• Broad cellular pathology experience across subspecialties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality histopathology and diagnostic cytology reporting.
• Participate in subspecialty cancer diagnostics and MDT input.
• Contribute to autopsy and andrology services where appropriate.
• workload management, timely reporting, audit participation, governance and teaching.
