Job summary

Nottinghamshire County Council's SEND Inclusion Service is seeking an experienced Locality Lead/Senior Practitioner to guide schools, families and settings in communication and interaction needs, including neurodivergent learners.

You will lead a team, provide specialist advice, training and resources, and work across District SENCOs and Family SENCOs to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Strong leadership experience, preferably within SEND.
• Experience with neurodivergent learners.
• Knowledge of SEND policies, safeguarding and relevant guidance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate: Support specialist teachers and teaching assistants to provide targeted guidance to schools using data to identify priorities and direct support.
• Support service development: Contribute to development of strategies, resources and approaches across the Communication and Interaction Team.
• Undertake direct work: Work directly with pupils where appropriate while focusing on strategic priorities.
• Develop training and resources: Oversee design and delivery of training materials supporting school-led practice.
• Work collaboratively: Build relationships across the SEND Inclusion Service and Nottinghamshire’s Family of Schools structure.
• Coordinate locality support: Develop locality working across Mansfield and Ashfield.
