Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking two Senior Specialist Teachers of Communication and Autism to lead on service development within the Specialist Teaching Service. You will shape practice, supervise staff and deputise for the Team Manager as appropriate.

You will work across Leicestershire to deliver SEND reforms, support schools and partner organisations, and contribute to high-quality service delivery and professional development.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status with evidence of professional development in Communication and Interaction.
• Substantial experience working with autistic or communication and interaction needs.
• Strong knowledge of assessment, teaching, learning strategies and interventions for SEND.
• Ability to lead, supervise staff and develop services in a multi-agency context.

Responsibilities

• Lead on specific areas of work within the Learning, Communication and Autism Team.
• Provide performance management, supervision and staff development.
• Support schools and partner organisations to strengthen inclusive practice and improve SEND outcomes.
• Contribute to strategic partnerships and continuous service improvement.
