Job summary

Pickstock Telford Ltd. in Telford, UK, is seeking a Loading Bay Operative to support the flow between the Abattoir and Boning Hall. The role involves manual handling to move beef carcasses and load them onto refrigerated vehicles, with training provided.

You will work Monday to Friday with occasional weekends, in a cold environment, upholding strict hygiene and safety standards, and you will have opportunities for skill development within the business.

Responsibilities

• Move beef carcasses from the slaughter line to Loading Bay chillers using manual handling or equipment.
• Rope and load carcasses; assist with splitting with training provided.
• Keep loading bay clean and organized; follow hygiene and safety procedures.
• Assist the wider production team to meet daily targets; load onto refrigerated vehicles.
• Develop skills across four butchery levels with internal training.
• Perform other duties as required by the business.

We’re currently seeking a Loading Bay Operative to join our team in a critical position that links two of our most vital operations—the Abattoir and Boning Hall. This is more than just a physical role; it’s an essential part of ensuring seamless production and timely delivery of our high-quality products.

What You’ll Doing

As a core member of the production flow team, you will:

• Safely move beef carcasses from the slaughterhouse production line to the Loading Bay chillers, using manual handling techniques, or at times, mechanical equipment. Which can include:
• Roping and loading of carcasses
• Splitting of carcasses (requiring saw and knife skills, training provided)
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the loading bay area
• Adhere to all health & safety and food safety procedures, which will include checking carcass temperatures
• Support the wider production team to meet daily operational targets
• Loading carcasses onto refrigerated vehicles, based on customer orders and product specification (training provided), in line with hygiene and safety standards
• Opportunity to develop your skills across 4 butchery levels with full training provided
• Other duties as and when required by the business
• The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop through the skill levels of the business, with internal training and development.
