Job summary

Pickstock Telford Ltd. in Telford is seeking Abattoir Operatives to join our busy meat processing facility. You will work from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, in Hortonwood, tackling a hands-on role that supports production targets while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

No prior slaughterhouse experience is required as comprehensive training is provided. We value reliability, teamwork, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a slaughterhouse or meat processing facility preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Willingness to handle animal carcasses and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Work in an active slaughterhouse using knives and equipment.
• Carry out activities within abattoir training matrix, including rodding, legging, flanking.
• Collaborate with team to meet production targets and customer demand.
• Undertake manual handling and use machinery as required.
• Ensure adherence to quality, HSE, animal welfare, and hygiene processes.

We are currently seeking hardworking and dedicated individuals to join our team as Abattoir Operatives, to work in Hortonwood, Telford, in Shropshire.

As an Abattoir Operative you will play a vital role in the processing of meat products, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards throughout the production process. Working from 7am, Monday to Friday, this role requires flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours when required to meet customer demand in the preparation of a fresh product.

Our ideal Abattoir Operative will be a reliable team player with excellent attention to detail, who is keen to learn and develop new skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working in an active slaughterhouse with the use of knives and other equipment
• Carry out all activities and roles within the abattoir in line with individual training matrix including rodding, legging , flanking etc.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production targets and meet customer demand.
• Undertaking manual handling tasks, using equipment or machinery when required
• Ensure strict adherence to quality, HSE, animal welfare, food safety, hygiene, ethical, product labelling and handling processes.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a slaughterhouse or meat processing facility preferred but not essential, as training is fully provided.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
• Willingness to handle and work with animal carcasses.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
• We also welcome applications from candidates who have knife handling experience in other roles (not necessarily a butchery environment) who wish to start a career in Meat Processing Industry.
