Job summary

Pickstock Telford Limited is seeking a Loading Bay Operative to support the critical link between the Abattoir and Boning Hall. The role involves manual handling, palletising and safe movement of beef carcasses within a cold production environment, with full training provided.

You’ll work as part of a team to meet daily production targets, maintain hygiene standards, and develop skills across multiple butchery levels. This is a hands-on, full-time position on-site in Telford.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness required for heavy manual handling.
• Willingness to work in cold environments and adhere to hygiene procedures.
• Experience in meat processing or food production is preferred.
• Basic knife skills are desirable.
• Proactive, dependable team player with good communication.
• Reliability, punctuality and attention to detail are essential.
• Ability to work as part of a small team in a busy production area.

Responsibilities

• Safely move beef carcasses from the slaughterhouse to the Loading Bay chillers using manual handling or equipment.
• Roping and loading carcasses onto conveyances as required.
• Hanging carcass quarters and assisting with splitting as needed (training provided).
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the loading bay area.
• Adhere to health & safety and food safety procedures, including temperature checks.
• Support the wider production team to meet daily operational targets.
• Load carcasses onto refrigerated vehicles in line with customer orders and product specs.
• Opportunity to develop skills across 4 butchery levels with training provided.
