Job summary

NIHCSS is seeking a Peer Support Worker in Norwich to use personal lived experience to connect with individuals facing mental health challenges. You will provide emotional and practical support, build confidence, and help people access services and community resources.

Role requires a drive to empower others, ability to work across Norfolk, and flexibility for mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Training and supervision are provided as part of ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of mental health or using services.
• Ability to listen, empathise and offer hope.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience providing one-to-one support to individuals in recovery.
• Experience facilitating group activities or meetings.
• Driver's license and access to a car are essential for community-based work.

Responsibilities

• Act as a navigator to engage individuals with the service and identify next steps.
• Develop expertise to support recovery, empowerment and self-management.
• Provide one-to-one and group peer support sessions.
• Promote engagement with community resources and local services.
