Job summary

Randstad Cpe London is recruiting for a Control Room Operator to join a busy rail operations environment. You will monitor live train performance, respond to alerts, and coordinate in-service failures while supporting operations and maintenance teams.

The role suits individuals with rail/rolling stock backgrounds seeking a move into a Control Room. It involves providing rapid technical support and maintaining clear incident records within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail or rolling stock maintenance roles.
• Good IT skills including Excel.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and coordinate across teams.
• Knowledge of ORBITA/OTMR/CCTV or asset systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support the Control Room during train service hours.
• Act as a key interface between Control Room, Operations and Depot teams.
• Monitor live ORBITA feeds and respond to technical alerts.
• Identify emerging train performance issues and escalate as needed.
• Coordinate in-service train failures during operational hours.
• Carry out remote investigations using ORBITA, OTMR, CCTV and other systems.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and actions taken.
• Support planning and coordination for in-service failures.
