Job summary

Avara Foods Hereford site is seeking a Live Haul Driver to collect poultry from farms and deliver to the Hereford factory, ensuring bird welfare and on-time schedules.

The role offers training from day one, a guaranteed hours contract, and overtime opportunities; typical shifts run Sunday-Thursday or Monday-Friday with varying start times. You’ll be part of the Primary Transport team, based at Hereford operation, handling loads and paperwork while maintaining vehicle hygiene.

Qualifications

• Good level of English and basic numeracy.
• Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
• Attention to detail and flexible attitude to tasks.
• Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised.
• Experience as part of a team of drivers.
• Poultry welfare qualification (Training Given).
• Previous experience with drivers’ hours law.

Responsibilities

• Collect poultry from farms and deliver to Hereford site.
• Ensure compliance with bird welfare regulations.
• Check loads, complete paperwork and maintain hygiene of lorries.
• Drive daily to collect poultry and transport to factory on schedule.
• Comply with driving regulations and guidelines.
• Meet supply needs of factories and ensure timely delivery.
• Implement safe working practices for Live Haul and factory areas.
• Understand department targets and duties.
• Follow company policies and guidelines.
• Co-operate in continuous improvement of quality, safety and productivity.
• Handle/lift items up to 18 kg.
• Keep trailers clean and tidy to required standard.
• Couple/uncouple trailers per procedures.
• Complete departmental paperwork and timesheets.
