About the role

Waltham Forest Legal Services is a high‑performing in‑house legal service accredited to Lexcel since 2005. We are seeking a Litigation Lawyer for a one‑year fixed‑term contract to manage disrepair claims within our Litigation and Public Law Team. The role focuses on disrepair law and related legislation, delivering a high quality, business‑focussed approach. Line‑managed by Senior Lawyers, you will work with legal officers and paralegals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice, draft documents and conduct litigation, undertaking advocacy and supporting clients across complex possession, homelessness, anti‑social behaviour and injunction work.
  • Conduct litigation (including advocacy) in areas assigned by the Senior Lawyer and/or Head of Law (Litigation).
  • Contribute to the operational management of the Legal Services team, delivering a high quality and cost‑effective legal service and undertaking work in other areas of Legal Services where required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with three years post‑qualification experience in disrepair litigation.
  • Experience in managing disrepair litigation and ability to undertake advocacy in County Court or Magistrates Court (desirable).
  • At least one year experience as a qualified solicitor, barrister or FILEX.
  • Proficiency in office software.
  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks.
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest.
