Job summary

The Portfolio Group Inc. in Manchester is seeking an ambitious Litigation Executive to own a full Employment Tribunal caseload, from instruction through resolution. You will manage discovery, draft grounds of resistance, and prepare bundles while maintaining strong client relationships.

This role supports your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) and offers clear progression within a fast-paced, supportive team environment aimed at handling complex employment matters.

Qualifications

• Qualified in law with LPC or BPTC and a Law Degree (or GDL).
• Hands-on litigation experience managing procedural steps (disclosure, drafting, bundles).
• Knowledge of Employment Law is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage full litigation process for own caseload from instruction to resolution.
• Review Early Conciliation and Tribunal matters for corporate clients.
• Draft grounds of resistance (ET3), applications and witness statements.
• Handle disclosure and create court bundles meticulously.
• Conduct preliminary hearings by telephone and represent clients.
• Negotiate settlements and liaise with Tribunals and clients.

The Role

As a dedicated Litigation Executive, you will manage the full litigation process for your own caseload, from initial instruction through to resolution. Your duties will include:

• Caseload Management: Reviewing Early Conciliation and Tribunal matters, including complex open-track cases, for a broad spectrum of corporate clients.
• Case Preparation: Drafting grounds of resistance (ET3), complex applications, and comprehensive witness statements.
• Disclosure & Bundles: Handling all aspects of document disclosure and the meticulous creation of court bundles.
• Advocacy: Conducting preliminary hearings by telephone and representing clients' interests robustly.
• Negotiation: Assessing the merits of cases to negotiate and achieve commercially favourable settlements.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for Tribunals, Claimants' representatives, and corporate clients.

What You Bring to the Team

We are looking for a bright, confident, and legally qualified individual with a firm commercial approach and excellent communication skills. To be successful, you must have:

• Qualifications: A Law Degree (or GDL) paired with the LPC or BPTC.
• Experience: Proven hands‑on litigation experience managing procedural steps (disclosure, drafting, bundle creation).
• Knowledge: Prior knowledge of Employment Law is highly desirable.
• Attributes: A genuine passion for employment law, exceptional attention to detail, a positive attitude toward a busy workload, and a commitment to guiding business owners through challenging legal matters.
