Job summary

Career Moves Group I B Corp™ is seeking a Linguist to join a leading global technology organisation's AI research team. The role focuses on multilingual and low-resource language research, with data work in Python and collaboration with researchers and engineers.

Applicants should have a PhD in Linguistics, strong theory background, and native or near-native English. Experience with Dravidian or Bantu languages is a plus; remote UK contract until end 2026.

Qualifications

• PhD in Linguistics or closely related field.
• Strong theoretical linguistics background.
• Experience with Python and data analysis notebooks.
• Exposure to NLP or multilingual AI is a plus.
• Native or near-native English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct linguistic analysis across large multilingual datasets.
• Analyse AI model outputs and identify linguistic errors and patterns.
• Help build, refine and test multilingual evaluation and challenge datasets.
• Develop and improve annotation and translation guidelines.
• Conduct typological, sociolinguistic and corpus-based research.
• Analyse areas including syntax, morphology, pragmatics, phonology, dialect variation and writing systems.
• Support Responsible AI research, including cultural and linguistic bias analysis.
• Review academic literature and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Assess language-data quality and provide actionable feedback.
• Use Python/pandas notebooks to inspect and analyse linguistic data.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers and native-language speakers.
