Job summary

Ovia Group in Tamworth is seeking an innovative Product Design Engineer to own product development across the full lifecycle, including sample review, supplier engagement and regulatory documentation to ensure UK compliance.

Based at Scolmore House, Tamworth, you will lead lighting concepts from concept to launch, produce the necessary lighting performance data, installation manuals and specifications, and collaborate with Far East partners. This office-based role operates 8:30am–5:00pm.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or science, or equivalent.
• Experience in product design or mechanical engineering.
• Strong understanding of physical principles.
• Experience with injection moulding and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to communicate design concepts using CAD/2D-3D methods.
• Able to plan, prioritise and coordinate with teams.
• Independent working capability.
• Prototyping and testing experience.
• Experience collaborating with Far East production.

Responsibilities

• Shape clear specifications for lighting concepts and manage product development.
• Lead projects from concept to launch with supporting docs.
• Conduct research to inform new concepts across lighting and non-lighting ranges.
• Ensure design meets performance, usability and functional criteria.
• Collaborate with UK and Far East teams to secure input and ensure quality.
• Prepare for design reviews with Product Design Manager/Technical Director.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for handover.
• Support IP applications as required.
• Present design reviews to company directors.
