Job summary

Espire is seeking an innovative Product Design Engineer to join the Technical & Quality Department in Tamworth. You will own product development through the full lifecycle, including sample review, supplier engagement and ensuring UK compliance.

The role is office-based at our Tamworth head office, 8:30am–5:00pm, collaborating across teams and with Far East partners to deliver high-quality lighting and non-lighting products.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in product design or mechanical engineering.
• Proven ability to communicate design concepts using 2D and 3D methods (sketching, CAD, model-making).
• Experience with injection moulding and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and coordinate with others.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Define specifications for new product concepts, focusing on lighting and luminaires.
• Lead projects from concept to launch with required documentation (data, manuals, specs, compliance).
• Conduct research and ideation for new concepts across product ranges.
• Maintain high-quality design meeting performance, usability and functionality criteria.
• Collaborate with the Technical Department and Far East partners to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
• Prepare for design reviews with Product Design Manager/Technical Director and support IP applications.
