Job summary

Active Communities Together Limited is recruiting a Recreation Assistant to support all leisure activities across wet and dry facilities. You will greet customers, help with day-to-day operations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety across the centre.

Responsibilities include assisting the Duty Manager, coordinating team duties and driving engagement to increase usage. A good general education is expected, with a preferred RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and first aid

• DBS disclosure may be required for some posts.

Responsibilities

• Guide, care for and assist Leisure Centre customers.
• Facilitate a friendly but efficient working relationship with users of the Leisure Centre.
• Work as part of a team to achieve centre objectives and usage targets.
• Innovate ideas to increase the usage of the Leisure Centre.
• Ensure facilities are presented to high levels of cleanliness and comfort.
• Assist the Duty Manager with control and security of the facility; ensure equipment is stored safely.
• Be aware of Health and Safety issues and communicate unsafe practices.
• Cover duties of other staff as required.
• Undertake other duties to assist in running the Leisure Centre.

Job description

The role of Recreation Assistant is a great position to be able to carry out and be involved in the full range of leisure activities. Continually customer facing the role provides rewarding opportunities. Meeting new people, variation in both activities and learning provides an exciting working day, every day, for our Recreation Assistants. Recreation Assistants will perform duties pertaining to both wet and dry sites. Primary Objectives for the Recreation Assistant will be

• To ensure the safety of and enjoyment of everybody using the Leisure Centre.
• To partake in the management of all aspects of the daily activities of the Centre.

The Recreation Assistant will focus day to day on the following tasks

• To guide, care for and assist all Leisure Centre customers.
• To facilitate a friendly but efficient working relationship with the people who use the Leisure Centre.
• To work as part of a team to achieve the objectives and usage targets of the Leisure Centre.
• To innovate ideas and initiate action to increase the usage of the Leisure Centre.
• To ensure all facilities are presented to the highest levels of cleanliness and comfort
• Assist the Duty Manager in the effective control and security of the facility, patrolling all appropriate areas ensuring that equipment is stored safely and securely.
• To be aware of all Health and Safety issues within the Centre, to constantly implement and assess procedures drawing attention to any unsafe practices.
• To ensure all parts of the Centre are safe and secure when not in use.
• To cover duties of such other members of staff as required.
• To undertake any other duties as may be required to assist in the running of the Leisure Centre.
• Portray a positive image of the Leisure Centre, wearing the uniform provided whilst on duty., Some Recreation Assistant positions may be classed as a regulated post and therefore may require a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the postholder to be submitted for a DBS check.
• The post holder should have a good general education and a desire to achieve a leisure management qualification. Ideally the postholder will possess a current first aid qualification and have the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
