At Lista Ventures, we are partnering with a well-established and globally active reinsurance firm to identify an experienced Life Underwriter with deep expertise in group life and personal accident underwriting.

This is a confidential search for a critical position within a fast-growing business, offering exposure to international markets, senior stakeholders, and strategic underwriting decisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting group risks across Europe and the Middle East while supporting business development, client relationships, and technical pricing.

The Role

As Life Underwriter, you will assess and manage group life and personal accident risks within the firm’s reinsurance portfolio, contribute to growth initiatives across international markets, and collaborate closely with actuarial, commercial, and compliance teams.

This role combines technical underwriting expertise, market-facing engagement, and strategic risk analysis—ideal for a commercially-minded underwriter who thrives in cross-cultural, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

• Evaluate and underwrite group life and personal accident submissions in line with the firm’s risk appetite.
• Define coverage terms and pricing in collaboration with the actuarial team.
• Apply data-driven decision-making to optimize profitability.

Business Development & Market Engagement

• Support the acquisition of new clients across Europe and the Middle East.
• Attend industry meetings and broker events to represent the company and build visibility.
• Prepare and present reinsurance proposals for new and renewal business.

Client & Broker Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain long-term partnerships with brokers and insurers.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, managing renewals and ongoing service quality.
• Monitor client satisfaction and contribute to relationship strategy.

Market & Regulatory Insight

• Monitor regional regulatory developments and insurance market trends.
• Conduct ongoing market analysis to identify competitive positioning opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external frameworks.

What We’re Looking For

• 5–7 years of experience in reinsurance underwriting (life and personal accident focus).
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or related.
• Strong working knowledge of group risk underwriting principles and international reinsurance structures.
• Experience with commercial negotiation, pricing collaboration with actuarial teams, and client-facing interactions.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g., Spanish) are highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with European and/or Middle Eastern markets.
• Exposure to regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.
• Confident presenter with experience representing underwriting teams at market events.
• Comfortable navigating multicultural work environments and hybrid team structures.
• FCA-authorised individual (or experience working in an FCA-regulated environment).
